Job description, responsibilities and duties

  • Lead and manage all electrical engineering design activities for a large-scale industrial project, ensuring compliance with project requirements, Slovak regulations, European and IEC standards.

  • Oversee the design and coordination of HV/MV/LV power distribution, substations, lighting, grounding, lightning protection, emergency power, UPS, cable routing, and electrical infrastructure.

  • Coordinate closely with Process, Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Architectural, Automation, ICT/ELV, Fire Protection, BIM teams, utility providers, and equipment suppliers to ensure integrated project delivery.

  • Review and approve all electrical engineering deliverables, including concept, permit, tender, execution (IFC), and as-built documentation, calculations, specifications, and technical reports.

  • Provide technical leadership during procurement by preparing specifications, reviewing bids, evaluating technical submissions, and supporting value engineering initiatives.

  • Support construction and commissioning by responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings and material submittals, resolving technical issues, supporting FAT/SAT, and participating in system testing and project handover.

  • Lead electrical BIM coordination, oversee clash detection, and ensure compliance with project BIM standards throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Monitor design progress, manage engineering risks and interface issues, prepare regular project reports, and drive quality, reliability, energy efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Personality requirements and skills

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical design for large industrial or infrastructure projects.

  • Strong expertise in HV/MV/LV systems, industrial power distribution, substations, protection systems, lighting, earthing, BMS, and SCADA interfaces.

  • Good knowledge of Slovak construction legislation, European (EN) and IEC standards, permitting, quality, and risk management.

  • Proficient in Revit MEP, AutoCAD Electrical, Navisworks, ACC/BIM 360, ETAP, EPLAN or equivalent electrical design software, and Microsoft Office

  • Proficiency in English and Slovak at a communicative level (minimum B2) – a requirement

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, ability to respond quickly to problems, analytical thinking, and thoroughness in problem-solving

Slovakia’s first battery gigafactory is being built near the town of Šurany on a 95-hectare site and will create over a thousand jobs. In the initial phase of construction, it will have a capacity of 20 GWh, with the potential to reach up to 40 GWh. The start of series production (SOP) is scheduled for the end of 2027.
